Real-time MR-guided transarterial aortic valve implantation (tavi): in vivo evaluation in swine
نویسندگان
چکیده
Objective Transcatheter, transarterial aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is rapidly emerging as a promising new treatment option for patients with severe symptomatic aortic valve stenosis who are considered at high or prohibitive surgical risk. Envisioning real-time MR guidance of the TAVI procedure, the objective of this study was the systematical in vitro evaluation of the MR imaging characteristics of a currently commercially available TAVI prosthesis and its delivery device and subsequent modification of the delivery device towards MR-compatibility. Featuring the modified MR compatible stent valve delivery device, real-time MR guided TAVI has been performed in vivo in eight swine.

Towards real-time cardiovascular magnetic resonance guided transarterial CoreValve implantation: in vivo evaluation in swine
BACKGROUND Real-time cardiovascular magnetic resonance (rtCMR) is considered attractive for guiding TAVI. Owing to an unlimited scan plane orientation and an unsurpassed soft-tissue contrast with simultaneous device visualization, rtCMR is presumed to allow safe device navigation and to offer optimal orientation for precise axial positioning. We sought to evaluate the preclinical feasibility of...

Towards real-time cardiovascular magnetic resonance-guided transarterial aortic valve implantation: In vitro evaluation and modification of existing devices
BACKGROUND Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is considered an attractive alternative for guiding transarterial aortic valve implantation (TAVI) featuring unlimited scan plane orientation and unsurpassed soft-tissue contrast with simultaneous device visualization. We sought to evaluate the CMR characteristics of both currently commercially available transcatheter heart valves (Edwards SAPI...

Introduction: With the development of interventional cardiology in the world, in addition to coronary and aortic diseases, the treatment of heart valve diseases through catheters has recently begun. The treatment of aortic stenosis (which was only possible with open surgery and valve replacement) was first performed in the world in 2002 by Alain Cribier in France with catheter insertion of the ...
متن کاملPercutaneous transarterial aortic valve implantation: what do we know?
Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is assuming a major role in the routine management of patients with aortic stenosis. Surgical aortic valve replacement is generally accepted to prolong survival, on the basis of historical comparisons and long experience. However, recently percutaneous transarterial TAVI has assumed the position as the only therapy in any aortic stenosis patient gr...
